The Afro-American Cultural Center at Yale, also known as “The House,” is over 55 years old and is open to all Yale students, faculty, staff, alumni and the New Haven community. It offers learning on New Haven history, the African Diaspora, and programs, events and resources.

Land Acknowledgement

Thanks to the Native American Cultural Center, Yale has a land acknowledgement to honor and respect the original stewards of the lands and waterways the Yale community occupies. 

Yale University acknowledges that indigenous peoples and nations, including Mohegan, Mashantucket Pequot, Eastern Pequot, Schaghticoke, Golden Hill Paugussett, Niantic, and the Quinnipiac and other Algonquian speaking peoples, have stewarded through generations the lands and waterways of what is now the state of Connecticut.  We honor and respect the enduring relationship that exists between these peoples and nations and this land.
